Custom WordPress: Bay Area Surf Cup – West Coast Youth Cup with a Distinct Identity

Bay Area Surf Cup runs alongside ESS Cup as the second flagship event in the same tournament group. The brief was to build a site that felt distinctly West Coast, different palette, different typography, different mood, without rebuilding the underlying theme. The same custom WordPress platform powering ESS Cup was rebranded via Theme Options to deliver a wholly different experience.

Technologies Used

• WordPress with the shared Elev8 group classic theme
• ACF Pro for content and Theme Options for brand variables
• SCSS with design tokens overridden per-site

• Hero with image, slideshow, or video, same engine as ESS Cup, distinct content
• Tournament info, age groups, sponsors, and registration flow
• Light / dark mode with a West Coast color palette
• Sibling site to ESS Cup, Elev8 Football, and Retain Players
• Updates ship across all four sites from the same codebase

Proof that the underlying theme can serve completely different brands without compromise, same fast, well-architected codebase, completely different visual identity, all editable from the WP Admin.
