What was the goal?

Custom WordPress – ESS Cup Soccer Tournament Marketing Site with a Ticket to Spain

The ESS Cup is an elite youth soccer tournament where the winning team earns a trip to Barcelona to play in the MIC or Costa Brava Cup. The site needed to sell prestige — colour, motion, big imagery, sponsor logos that look like they belong — while staying easy for the organiser to update between editions. We reused the custom theme built for the Elev8 family of sites and rebranded it entirely through Theme Options.

Technologies Used

  • WordPress with the custom Elev8 group classic theme
  • ACF Pro Flexible Content for editable sections
  • Theme Options panel with 12 brand colour pickers (6 light, 6 dark)
  • Vanilla JS for the hero slideshow and video logic

Key Features

  • Hero supporting background image, slideshow, or self-hosted video
  • Age group blocks with format, fees, and deadlines pulled from ACF
  • Sponsors row, FAQ accordion, and registration CTA
  • Brand colours and typography swapped purely from the WP Admin
  • Designed to look completely different from its sibling tournament sites — same engine, different car

Outcome

A tournament site that earns the "Ticket to Spain" tagline — visually distinct from its sibling cup site despite sharing the same underlying theme, and easy enough to update that the organiser can ship changes between editions without a developer in the loop.
